The Syrian Arab Republic lies on 185 180 sq.km. The capital – Damascus, is governed by the president Bashar Hafez al-Assad. The independence of Syria was recognized by France on 17 April 1946 with borders to Iraq, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Turkey and The Mediterranean Sea. Territories of dispute are those of Golan Heights and the surrounding area of Iskenderun town.
Conflict emergence: After the World war 1and the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire in 1920, French and British diplomats negotiated the allocation of territories of the former empire. When in 1945 the Syrians won their independence, many political and military coup d’état were provoked. That was the arise of civil fight against upholders of the Arab socialist Ba’ath party. In 1958 Nasser became the leader of the United Arab Republic (Syria and Egypt). That was when the relations between Syrians and Egyptians became unbearable.
When Saddam Hussein became the head of the government in Iraq in 1979, the situation got even worse. During the years the Syrians repeatedly got involved into politic and economic interests of Lebanon. In 1975 started the civil war which lasted 15 years! According to the beliefs and goals of the Syrians while executing “Great Syria” project – Mediterranean Sea, Persian gulf and Red Sea represented one inseparable part. Nowadays these territories belong to Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Arabia. In 2001 Syria officially allowed private bank operations and in 2003 the first three nongovernmental bank institutions were established. The average growth of GDP in Syria back in the days was just over 2%, unemployment was almost 20% and inflation for 2004 was 2,1%. The population of the country in 2005 was 18 448 752 people.
Just over 90% of Syrians are ethnic Arabs, Kurds are 5% and the rest are Armenians, Assyrians, etc. . Per centage allocation of population in Syria is as follows: Sunni Muslims are about 74%, Shiаs, Druze,Alawi who profess Islamic religions are about 16% and the remaining 10% are Christians, numbering over 2.5 million people. Almost 75% of the population is literate and education is free and compulsory for children aged 6 to 11 years. Under the influence of diversity and excitement in the Arab world, on March 15, 2011 a rebellion against the management arose, which continues up to now … The foregoing information is intended to familiarize you with the situation which nearly 20 million people are forced to live in, in the 21st century. It’s not about ethnic or religious conflict but WAR – organized violent conflict characterized by extreme aggression and disruption of society, and high mortality. War takes at least two parties. The main reason for the starting war between people is distributing a limited number of natural resources and other economic interests that are directly related to policy stakeholders.
It is obvious that the conflict in the Arab world has turned to local war as for so many years the population of those areas comes to life and pass away under the one and only government and manipulation…., do you consider this normal in 21 century – numerous killing, taking people’s homes in front of our eyes?!
In fact, it is not happening in front of us as news hosts consider “Sandi” storm in the USA as more important than the war in Syria, which takes much bigger number of victims every day. If we try not to take into account all prejudice and think over the most common wish between all people on Planet Earth: “Be safe and sound”, we may come to the conclusion that the most significant and valuable assets in this simple human world are life and health.

Nowadays, we can walk, shop, have social life…., today we can turn our back to something or someone or just stop watching the video showing us suffering people who are so geographically close to us. Today we can ignore someone’s human rights because that someone is not our child, our relative.
Just think TODAY, what if bombs did not explode in Syria but in our backyard – what would you do? Would you ask for help…would you abandon your homeland becoming ethnic refugee… or would you fight for peace?!
Here comes the logical question: How could we help people achieve peace? The main power which has to right to get involved into Syrian war is the UN. The organization of the united nation was established on 26 June 1945 but its Statue was approved by the 5 permanent member-states of its Security Council on 24 October 1945, permanentmembers of Security Council of Chinese National Republic, Russia, USA, Great Britain and North Ireland and France.
Main goal of UN Organization is to keep the world peace. UN aims to control and monitor peace and good relations between different nations and to guarantee international stability as a main step to prevention of ethnic, rаce or state conflicts and thus prevent possible massive military actions.
It seems that after the consequences of the two World Wars there is a will to prevent such conflicts for the future generations. That are the main goals due to which UN exists – to stand against aggression, to establish friendly relations between nations and maintain peace and security on Earth. ‘The United nations” did not cover any of its obligations under Statue and idea of existing. 192 member-states of UN are governed mainly by the “Security Council”.
Apparently, after one of the greatest foolishness of mankind – fighting against each other, organization was established, which aims to prevent anti peaceful actions provoked by any interests. When UN was established, the governmental bodies were chosen according to their economic, military and territory power, common ideas against the aggressors in power back in the days.
In the basics of the UN management lay 6 main bodies: “General assembly”, “Security Council”, “Economic and social Council”, “Trusteeship Council”, “International court” and “Secretariat”.
Point 2 of the Charter states that among the main principles of the organization is the establishment of sovereign equality between member-states. They have the obligation not to use any force or threat to use any which is against the goals of UN. Conflicts have to be solved in a peaceful manner.
Member-states of the organization are obliged to provide support in any of its fore taken action. States outside UN are expected to keep its principles and act in common sense. According to the Charter of the organization, it will not take into account issues concerning inner jurisdiction in any of the member-states.
The General Assembly is the deliberative body of the United Nations. It involves all member states, each of which gives one vote. Decisions on matters of substance shall be adopted by a majority or two thirds of the vote, according to the gravity of the problem. With the ratification of the amendment to the Charter in 1965, “Security Council” up to 15 countries – the five permanent members and 10 as follows: 5 from Africa and Asia, two from West, two from Latin America and one from Eastern Europe.
Security Council investigates a collision or a threat to order, but can only make recommendations for its peaceful resolution. On the other hand, the Board may require the member states to impose various sanctions against the country guilty of threatening and breach of the peace. Penalties can enter into force and of aggression or breach of the International Court of Justice.
The work of the United Nations has been repeatedly criticized. After the “Cold War” for which the organization was unprepared, trust levels reduced the importance of the UN. Looks like in 2012 UN again has no action plan. UN managed to impose peace, but nobody knows exactly how many hours lasted lull in the Arab world. UN envoy to Syria Lahdar Brahimi called Basha al-Assad dictator temporary ceasefire Kurban Bairam.
There was no peace even for 3 days during the most important holidays for all in the Middle East. Assad explained to Brahimi that “Syria could not have peace while its neighbours Turkey and Arab allies to the United States and keep arming “terrorists.”
“You can not talk about any political solution until all recognize our sovereignty and r stop meddling,” said Assad.
Conclusion: “. Тhere are doubts about the vested interest of some member states of the UN military action in Syria. There are all conditions for the outbreak of war in the Middle East and the United Nations can not reach a unanimous decision to take steps for peace.
Since there have been military actions for over a year, this means that the UN can not take peaceful action. There is a definite government, leading Arab states to mass human rights violations and war. Meanwhile two of the member states: Russia and China have opposed the latest UN resolution to take military action and lasting cessation of conflicts in Siriya. Interesting … which is empowering two people representing two countries to deprive people of a better life. Moreover, how is it possible today, 192 states to suffer to be managed by five countries. Were Germany, Brazil, India and Japan when pushing for reform the “Security Council” in the 90’s and expansion of permanent members, out of their rights to solve world’s problems? Why China, USA, Russia, France and Britain opposed the expansion of the Security Council.
The most precious thing in this world is life. If the life of these people depend on the decision of certain rulers and people die every day because of differences in the interests of some of the most powerful countries, I ask myself:
“Is not it hypocritical people to die while others organizing another vote?”
“Should we experience bombs in our city to help people?”
“Why not assess the most powerful economic, military and regional forces to date, but let UN be guided by interests?”
Answer: We all have equal human rights, and we can not remain indifferent to the war in Syria. If you want to help achieve peace and save life, let us all together ask the UN, why delaying so much?
